Cabrera missed nearly four weeks because of a severe left hamstring strain. He’ll be back with the Padres for their series-opener on Tuesday night against the visiting Cardinals. The speedy shortstop has batted just .218/.256/.290 in 80 games this season and he’s a mere 13-for-20 in stolen base attempts.

So the Jason Lane story doesn’t have a happy ending after all. I guess a 406 ERA+ doesn’t go as far as it used to.

The Padres better start printing those play-off tix now that Cabrera is back.
