Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports that the Marlins have acquired pitcher Jarred Cosart from the Astros. Joining him on the trip from Houston to Miami is utilityman Enrique Hernandez.

To Houston: outfielder Jake Marisnick and third base prospect Colin Moran, who is currently at high-A ball. Houston will also get Miami’s competitive balance round draft pick in the 2015 draft.

Wasn’t Cosart supposed to pitch for Houston against the Jays tonight?

Yes, now you get Buchanan, ground ball specialist (sinker ball). And he pitched 2+ on Sunday – which likely means shorter leash but also that’s usually really good for sinker ball guys.

Cosart will do well in FLA (NL), hearing Peacock moving back to Astros rotation, and I know he’s not on the 40 man, but I want to see Folty in Houston before September (has to go on 40 man in Nov anyway – to protect from rule 5).

Houston picked up a couple of very good prospects plus a high draft pick.

Moran was the #6 player selected in the 2013 Draft.

So HOU now has #6 and #1 from 2013

That pic of Cosart is an TJ waiting to happen

Well, if his foot is already down (which it probably is), then, yeah, his arm is really late…putting a lot of stress on the elbow to catch up.

Not quite sure why I am getting thumbs down…that delivery is textbook for big time arm issues

People in general aren’t fans of facts that they wish weren’t true.

I am more upset about the 22yr old future batting contender we just gave up. He had the best swing, and eye on the team. Atuve, and Like back to back is ridiculous looking forward.

That is two players always on base in front of the middle of the lineup.

    Sad.

Great deal for the Astros — if the goal was to compete in 2019. Furthermore, even with a possible four picks in the top 40 next year, I don’t trust Luhnow not to botch it.

I suspect Cosart was dealt as much because he’s a pain in the ass (he was one of the rumored 2 people upset with Appel’s bullpen session in Houston and he was not a supporter of shifts) than anything else.

Another middle finger extended to the fans with regards to the present.

The goal was to compete in 2016, and win it in 2017… Some say they were on course to compete next season… if they can get bullpen help.

Last 4 games against OAK, and Tor. Win 2, lose 2 in 9th….. We are competing now.
