Out since late June with a strained intercostal muscle, Astros center fielder Dexter Fowler is slated to begin a minor-league rehab assignment Friday at Triple-A.

Fowler was having a strong season before the injury, hitting .270 with a .377 on-base percentage and .774 OPS in 76 games to prove that his production with the Rockies wasn’t totally inflated by calling Coors Field home.

Barring another setback Fowler should be ready to come off the disabled list next week.
