Murphy has been feeling soreness in his side for close to a week and the Indians finally decided to give him an extended period of rest. This is the second knee-related disabled list stint for Swisher, who also has a minor right wrist injury. Both players have had disappointing seasons offensively for the 58-59 Tribe.

Cleveland recalled Tyler Holt and Zach Walters from Triple-A to fill the vacant 25-man roster spots.

Not that I’m glad anyone is injured, but these moves should improve the Indians. Murphy has been okay, not good, but okay. Swisher though, has been one of the worst players in MLB.

Losing Nick Swisher is addition by subtraction.
