CSNPhilly.com has a cool feature on Mo’ne Davis, the 13-year-old girl who pitched Philadelphia’s Taney Youth Baseball Association to an 8-0 victory over a squad from Delaware on Sunday in Little League Baseball’s Mid-Atlantic Regional Championship.

She will become the 18th female to participate in the Little League World Series, which is celebrating its 68th year and begins this Thursday in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. Davis is scheduled to pitch Friday against South Nashville.

And she’s said that her dream is to play point guard for the UCONN Huskies. Good luck to her.

And we’ll lose another kid to basketball. :(

        She can do both.

Maybe she will only grow to be 5’9″ and we will have the first female Pedro Martinez in the AL?

        One can certainly hope right?

    So awesome. Go, girl!

  3. pourman - Aug 12, 2014 at 10:21 PM

She’s in it to win. I hope that she and her teammates aren’t distracted by all of the media who will try to attach themselves to this story.

Canada has a girl in it too. Good luck to them.

She probably throws the football better than Tebow and even Manziel

The boys who play against her are screwed. Beat a girl and it’s like “Your supposed to beat a girl” and if lose to a girl all they’ll hear is “Ha, you got beat by a girl!”

Possibly so, but one hopes in this century that at least some of the adults in their lives aren’t that stupid.

I rarely miss watching the Little League World Series and thios year there’s even more to look forward to. I’ll be pulling for this young lady to take her team to the Championship and then play against the International Champion.

I watched her pitch the game against Delaware and was really impressed. I hope she tries to play baseball at UConn also. She can handle both.

Hope that she keeps growing but….

This is the first time I’ve heard the name Mo’ne. I miss traditional names like Mary.

Mo’ne is getting all the attention, but the team is a great story…
