Tigers give away mislabeled Miguel Cabrera bobbleheads to fans

Miguel Cabrera Miguel Cabrera

The giveaway error bug has hit the Tigers, weeks after striking the Rockies when they gave away misspelled Troy “Tulowizki” shirts to fans. The Tigers gave away a Miguel Cabrera bobblehead figurine in which he’s holding his two MVP awards from 2012 and 2013. Only one problem: the awards are labeled National League, rather than American League.

The Freep Sports Twitter account retweeted a few user-submitted photos of the bobbleheads. Here’s one with a clear shot:

Whoops.

Update: Forever Collectibles, the company that manufactured the bobbleheads, apologized for the error. Thanks to Matthew Mowery of the Oakland Press for passing this along:

“Forever Collectibles takes full responsibility for this error and we apologize to the fans. We are certainly disappointed this happened.”

    Hey. Show some respect.

He had to kick 45 touchdowns to win that honor. Not an easy thing to do in today’s squared circle.

After hitting that bulls-eye, the rest of the dominoes should fall like a house of cards. Checkmate.

      • tfbuckfutter - Aug 15, 2014 at 10:43 PM

We should pool our money and buy Forever Collectibles.

We clearly know more about the sportings than they do.

Clearly, the spirit of robin Williams has not left us – he’s possessed you two. I laughed so hard I blew iced tea out my nose, and the ice cubes hurt.

Andrew McCutchen just bought 10 of those on EBay.

What do you expect? They are probably mass produced in a Third World country by some 9 year old getting paid 28 cents a day.

    • kcroyal - Aug 15, 2014 at 10:33 PM

Jesus. I knew the economy was improving but I didn’t think they were making THAT much.

    • tfbuckfutter - Aug 15, 2014 at 11:30 PM

      That’s messed up man.

I’m pretty sure 9 year olds in Koalabearpoor know there is both an American League and a National League.

They were clearly working from copy.

Whoever wrote the copy screwed up.

So show some respect to those 9 year old….Koalabearians. They did a good job.

      • tmc602014 - Aug 16, 2014 at 6:00 PM

If the A’s ever move out of Oakland, can we rename them the Koalabearians?

Instant collectors items. Soon to appear on E-Bay.

    • tigersfandan - Aug 15, 2014 at 11:56 PM

Yes. They are definitely more valuable this way.

Still not as funny as the Star Wars trading card where C3PO had a giant robot boner.

That’s right up there with the Mets giving out a Phillies / W.B. Mason truck, and the Troy Tulowitki jersey giveaways.

Of course this all pales in comparison to ten cent beer night, disco demolition night, and the Dodgers’ 1995 baseball giveaway.

MLB promotional departments are almost exclusively staffed with unpaid and/or underpaid people. That’s the kind of “business model” you can afford in a monopoly.

      “the Troy Tulowitki jersey giveaways.”

      Whoops!

  7. raynman49 - Aug 15, 2014 at 10:31 PM

    Stop getting them from China!

    • chiadam - Aug 15, 2014 at 10:46 PM

It didn’t say National Reague MVP.

  8. andreweac - Aug 15, 2014 at 11:18 PM

Trout should have the AL MVP in 2013 and 2013.

    • joerymi - Aug 15, 2014 at 11:42 PM

Is that like a double rainbow?

    • tearlw - Aug 15, 2014 at 11:51 PM

      lol 2013 and 2013
Do you work for the company that made those bobbleheads?

  9. historiophiliac - Aug 16, 2014 at 12:37 AM

Man, Miggy is GOOD! He took home the NL MVP too! MVP Miggy!!!!

  10. mungman69 - Aug 16, 2014 at 5:17 PM

It says right on them, “Made in China”.
We, USA, should start charging a tariff. But big business keeps paying off politicians so no tariff.
