The Reds and Rockies were about 15 minutes away from starting the third game of their four-game series against each other when it was announced that there would be a delay due to a water main break outside of the stadium. From the Rockies Twitter:

John Fay of the Cincinnati Enquirer reports that the game will pick up at 6:40 local time, meaning that the delay will have only lasted about a half hour. Reds starter Dylan Axelrod, filling in for the injured Homer Bailey, will make his 2014 season debut against Rockies starter Jordan Lyles.

According to their Twitter, there will be no cash refunds. You can either go to the re-scheduled game (which is now a inconvenient 7:10 Sunday night start for those us with jobs to go to Monday morning) or go to any other game with ticket of the same value–depending on availability) which I’m sure will work wonderfully for those people in from out-of-town. Just curious, is this the new standard practice?

Since I suspect not too many people are going to Rockies games now, it seems that this would have been better as a DH, and just make adjustments when 2 people have tickets for the same seats..Ahh Rockies…

Actually, this is a big weekend at Coors Field – Todd Helton’s number is being retired. All three weekend games celebrated his career, so attendance has been very high. Today’s (original) game is a sellout, with the retirement ceremony being held beforehand. A complicated weekend to try to schedule a double header.

Even Coors Field can’t stay off the DL.
