VIDEO: Miss Texas takes the crown for worst ceremonial first pitch

Aug 16, 2014, 3:32 PM EST

miss texas pitch

50 Cent, you’re off the hook, buddy. It looks like we have a new champion for the worst ceremonial first pitch.

Monique Evans, the reigning Miss Texas, threw out the first pitch before last night’s game between the Angels and Rangers at Globe Life Park in Arlington. As you’ll see below, it was off the mark by a rather significant margin.

Yikes. Those mechanics aren’t recommended, kids. This whole situation is made more humorous by the presence of Captain, the Rangers’ team mascot. Evans seemed to be a good sport about the whole thing, so at least we can all laugh about it together.

She’s a ballerina which is why she threw like that.

Also she’s a girl which is why she threw like that.

    Fiddy still worse.

    • nothanksimdriving123 - Aug 16, 2014 at 5:02 PM

She’s over 21, so she’s a woman. Mo’Ne Davis throws like a girl. Ms. Evans throws like someone who should practice for at least one minute before next appearing in public.

She looked waaaayyyyy better throwing that pitch than $0.50

    • pinkfloydprism - Aug 16, 2014 at 9:01 PM

50 is worse because he threw like she would have overhand…

  2. professor30 - Aug 16, 2014 at 4:09 PM

Who cares where the pitch went, love the mechanics.

  3. serbingood - Aug 16, 2014 at 4:11 PM

Gov. Rick Perry has just issued a veto on the first pitch and is demanding the residents of Arlington recall the pitcher and replace her with one that can get closer to the plate.

Still more manly than Baba Booey’s.

    • thisdamnbox - Aug 17, 2014 at 3:21 AM

Ah, c’mon! Poor Baba Booey catching FP shrapnel years later…

Can we be done with “first pitches” that have nothing to do with baseball?

    • zzalapski - Aug 16, 2014 at 5:02 PM

First pitches of baseball games, by definition, have something to do with baseball, so I’m not sure what you’re complaining about.

      • nothanksimdriving123 - Aug 16, 2014 at 5:05 PM

My guess is Chad would prefer that the only people who should be asked to make first pitches are people with a connection to baseball, as opposed to beauty queens, presidents, other politicians, astronauts, show biz folks, etc.

    • tfbuckfutter - Aug 16, 2014 at 5:09 PM

Why exactly does it bother you?

Just go buy a hot dog or something it if irritates you.

It’s a big deal for a lot of people getting to do it. And their families.

And sometimes people like to, you know….honor a local veteran or someone who has done something remarkable.

      • chad10 - Aug 17, 2014 at 7:19 AM

You have a point(s) there. I didn’t raise mine well.

    • glennsyank13 - Aug 16, 2014 at 6:52 PM

I guess you really hate the 7:07 start times and wish it’d just go back to 7:05?

  6. sisisisisisisi - Aug 16, 2014 at 4:33 PM

    This ain’t bowling Miss!

    • missingdiz - Aug 16, 2014 at 4:47 PM

      Very nice form for horseshoes.

  7. garryfish - Aug 16, 2014 at 4:34 PM

    Still looked good doing it:)

  8. newpairofsox - Aug 16, 2014 at 4:42 PM

That was a very sensual first pitch. I’ll be in my room.

  9. erbaodai - Aug 16, 2014 at 5:15 PM

Her leg form seems to be better suited for catching, and I bet she could handle the bats as well.

  10. jolink653 - Aug 16, 2014 at 5:19 PM

Maybe she mixed up baseball and bowling? Or maybe being #1 on Sportscenter’s Not Top 10 was on her bucket list

  11. shawnuel - Aug 16, 2014 at 5:21 PM

She filled out her outfit a lot better than Fitty did.

  12. gumpsturn32 - Aug 16, 2014 at 5:29 PM

    rangers need to sign her

  13. snipedanglecelly13 - Aug 16, 2014 at 5:41 PM

    50 cent was still worse

  14. cardinalcrazy - Aug 16, 2014 at 6:04 PM

She must have thought she was throwing it to the third baseman.

  15. sumerduckman - Aug 16, 2014 at 6:48 PM

That’s not even close for the worst pitch at a ballgame. The worst is some sanctimonious mofo politiican with a smarmy smile that most folks in the stands either despise or politely tolerate. Does not matter if he can get the ball close to the plate.
This young lady is pretty, looks like she is having a good time, and is stylish besides.

  16. tigersfandan - Aug 16, 2014 at 6:52 PM

Can anything ever be worse than the first pitch by Cincinnati mayor Mark Mallory?

  17. renaado - Aug 16, 2014 at 7:48 PM

I’d rather have a cat doin the first pitch, still waitin for that hero cat to do it.

  18. rickditka - Aug 16, 2014 at 7:52 PM

If she were wearing a white sox jacket, she would have looked just like the president of the united states.

    • whatacrocker - Aug 17, 2014 at 2:02 AM

And if you were wearing a Rangers cap, you’d look just like a dick in a Rangers cap.

  19. Panda Claus - Aug 17, 2014 at 11:40 AM

That first pitch attempt pretty much sums up the Rangers’ 2014 season.
