A.J. Burnett: maybe I won’t retire after this season after all

What a difference a start makes. Last week, after a not-so-good performance, Phillies starter A.J. Burnett said that he was “probably” going to walk away from the game after this season, leaving an eight-figure paycheck on the table in the form of an un-exercised player option.

Last night he struck out twelve dudes and now he’s feeling a bit more eager to pitch in 2015. From CSNPhilly.com:

“I guess you could say I’ve still got it when I do have it,” Burnett said. “My decision will come down to how I feel and what my family and I decide. It’s just one start, but to be able to go out and do that tonight makes you wonder.”

As CSNPhilly.com’s Jim Salisbury reports, Burnett said he made an adjustment before last night’s game which made things way easier. Whatever happened, he showed that, when he’s on, he’s still capable of beating one of baseball’s best teams. So if he wants to pitch next season, he’d certainly be welcomed by someone.

A.J.’s quote is pretty much his entire career in a nut shell. He could look like an ace one night and his very next start he’s not getting out of the second inning. He just makes you scratch your head most of the time.

“A.J struck out 12 last night”, even a blind squirrel can find an acorn every now and then. as pete1212 stated, you never know what this head case will bring you , one start he’s great and the next he could get bombed, but whatever he decides, stay out of the AL, he has a better chance in the NL.

I like the Nats, but fact is you don’t have to go back 40 years or 4 years. They haven’t won anything, so maybe clowns like you should hold off on the regular season parade you’re currently throwing.

        It’s embarassing

      • teejayss - Aug 26, 2014 at 4:53 PM

being in first place by 8 games is embarrassing?
so by your logic, why watch any reg. season BB, because it dosent mean anything, right genius?

“Meaningful games won in team history”

The Nationals won the World Series in 2013. I read all about it December 2012

It ain’t just a river in Egypt too.

Actually the Nats have nothing much to talk about given the fact that their supposed franchise player at 3B can’t stay on the field and the phenom of Strasburg is being out performed by the Sun Tanner….wouldn’t put too much hope in Nats bandwagon….Btw you already lost a team out Washington many years ago…So the second team is still their Triple A….lol remember the Rangers….Washington just like the politicians are on the Wagon….and it will break down….

    • teejayss - Aug 26, 2014 at 11:25 AM

youre right genius. first place by 8 games, winners of 12 of last14. nothing much to talk about is right. What can your team possibly say?

Ruebun needs you to come back, needs that median age to stay around 37.
