Tigers’ retirement gifts for Derek Jeter: a set of old Tiger Stadium seats and three paintings

Aug 27, 2014, 8:59 PM EST

Derek Jeter‘s retirement tour continued Wednesday in Detroit with another set of gifts …

The paintings were of new Comerica Park, old Tiger Stadium, and Jeter’s high school field in Kalamazoo, Michigan — about two hours west of Detroit. Jeter also got dirt from the high school field. Pretty cool.

And nine straight hits against David Price. Thanks Tigers.

No, not just from his high school field. In fact, soil from each of the three fields, affixed to their corresponding painting

As a team, I detest the Yankees. But Jeter is a class act.

I am a Tigers fan and life long Michigan resident and I know this is irrational and probably makes me a terrible person, but as long as someone wears pinstripes, I absolutely loathe them. I know, it doesn’t make any sense, but I’m sorry. I hate Derek Jeter. Bring on the thumbs down, my normal rational self would do it too.

Hating Jeter-san is like hating your dad, so yeah, guess it’s fine.

I think I got over my irrational hatred for my father right around the time I stopped being a whiny teenager. My irrational hatred for the Yankees will always endure
