Toronto transferred infielder Brett Lawrie from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list, which means he won’t be eligible to return to the active roster before the season ends.

Lawrie has been out since early August with a strained oblique muscle and hit just .247 with 12 homers and a .722 OPS in 70 games before going on the DL.

Since a big 43-game debut as a 21-year-old in 2011 he’s hit a combined .261 with a .721 OPS in three seasons while missing 37, 55, and now 92 games.

His earlier injury this season was caused by a broken finger on a hit by a pitch. He was just getting hot when it happened.

Lawrie has yet to finish a full season healthy. Too bad.

He’s a disaster and I’m tired of seeing hot girls wear his jersey at games.

What a colossal let down this guy is

He’s not a bust – he’s a talented kid who can hit and he provides Gold Glove caliber defense when he’s healthy..having said that tho gotta wonder if next season injury-wise looks anything like the last few when AA will move on from him – he’s a major talent, but he’s no good to them on the DL all the time…

I couldn’t care any less about “gold glove defense.” He cant stay healthy and he sucks at hitting. It’s kinda like everyone said matt weiters was going to hit like babe ruth but now they say “he calls a good game and provides a good backstop.” who cares. if you can’t hit you suck

Lawrie shows flashes that he can be a really solid player.

He is too young to have all these injuries——one injury after another.

Stay on the field for one full season and his true talent and ability can be judged. I am not a Jays fan, but I can understand their frustration with judging Lawries potential—————-stay on the field Brett.
