Twins ask fans which brand of luxury car they are, don’t realize they’re a wreck

Sep 2, 2014, 1:35 PM EST

my mother the car

Below you’ll find a question included in a “brand survey” the Minnesota Twins’ marketing department just sent out to their fans via e-mail.

Before looking at it and the type of options listed, please keep in mind that the Twins are currently in last place at 60-77 following three consecutive 95-loss seasons and only the Astros have fewer total wins since 2011.

I dunno. Which car brand is the most tone deaf?

The Twins are an 89′ LeBaron……that was not owned by Jon Voight

Actually saw that episode playing on some channel over the weekend. Nicely done.

    Ford Pinto…

    • jwbiii - Sep 2, 2014 at 2:08 PM

I was thinking Mustang II. It looks sporty and fast, like the Twins with their new stadium, but it really has the guts of a Pinto with some nice styling. Lipstick on a pig but with no chance of bacon, ham, or pork chops in the future.

Chevy Cavalier? Out of production, obsolete, and the ignition will probably try to kill you if you even find one that isn’t rusted through?

  4. edstones - Sep 2, 2014 at 1:49 PM

    The Bricklin.

  5. Ari Collins - Sep 2, 2014 at 1:53 PM

The DeLorean. Travel to the past or the future, but don’t stay here.

Leave the University of Maryland football program out of this.

Mercedes Benz – A one time quality product that has cut costs and quality to the bone and is limping along on it’s name recognition.

  8. stlouis1baseball - Sep 2, 2014 at 2:23 PM

Wow. This is a hell of a question from the Marketing Dept. Nothing bad could come out of it at all.
Nope. Everyone is going to answer BMW, Lexus and/or Mercedes Benz.

Aaron: The Gremlin. The Gremlin is easily the most tone deaf.

I’m a little creeped out by the “My mother the car” graphic.

Maybe the toyota pick-up they tried to destroy on Top Gear. Not much to begin with and no matter what you do to it it keeps on running — though just barely.

This three-wheeled abortion of a car:

Technically it’s a car, like other cars, but performance-wise, I can’t catch up to anything. And it’s probably going to fall over.

Or otherwise, it’s a Reliant Robin:

  12. twonis - Sep 2, 2014 at 3:25 PM

They’re a Corvair. Once they get running fast they catch fire and flip over. And I say this as a Twins fan writing from his office that sits in the shadow of Target Field. Sad days, my friends.

Unsafe to play baseball at any speed?

  13. scoutsaysweitersisabust - Sep 2, 2014 at 3:38 PM

    Looks about right

  14. byjiminy - Sep 2, 2014 at 3:42 PM

They’re those fuel-celled powered cars of the future that are really gonna be awesome…someday. And that someday is always a few years away, and always will be.

    Chevy Nova. The Spanish one

What are those three wheeled vehicles popular in Europe? The twins are those with tipping over a common thing

  17. happytwinsfan - Sep 2, 2014 at 8:21 PM

the 1981 Honda Accord that I bought for fifty bucks sometime in the early to mid nineties that took me and my kids up over the rockies and back in the vacation of a lifetime.

How about GM? Bankrupt since 2011 and still killing people every evening.
