Angels manager Mike Scioscia acknowledged to reporters on Tuesday evening that there is growing concern about the status of Josh Hamilton’s injured right shoulder, noting that the recovery process “doesn’t look like it’s going in the right direction.” The hope is that another round of cortisone injections will help the cause.

From Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times comes word that Rays left-hander Matt Moore played catch Monday for the first time since undergoing Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery back in April. Moore made around 25 throws from a distance of 50 feet, and Topkin says the 25-year-old had a “big smile on his face” after the successful workout.
