    Jun 25, 2014, 1:20 PM EDT

    pete kozma getty

Pete Kozma was the Cardinals’ Opening Day shortstop last season and a not-insignificant number of people misguidedly believed that he had long-term upside based on paying more attention to his flukey 26-game stint in 2012 rather than his lengthy track record of mediocrity.

Cardinals right-hander Lance Lynn allowed a pair of homers in an otherwise decent June 6 start against the Blue Jays, in Toronto, and was apparently convinced afterward that he’d been tipping some of his pitches.

  10. A’s giving Sonny Gray extra time between starts

Whenever a team skips a young starter’s turn in the rotation it leads to questions about the health of that young starter, especially after the Cardinals did that with Michael Wacha last week while claiming they were simply giving him “rest.”

Mike Napoli stole home. Though, really, we should call what he did something else. Also: are we at “Peak Brandon” in Major League Baseball?

    Jun 21, 2014, 11:08 AM EDT

Trevor Rosenthal attempted to make a bare-handed play to throw Ryan Howard out at first base last night. It worked. Sort of.

  16. Cardinals skipping Michael Wacha’s next start for “rest”

    Jun 19, 2014, 5:12 PM EDT

NLCS - Los Angeles Dodgers v St Louis Cardinals

Cardinals right-hander Michael Wacha will not make his scheduled start Sunday, but the team says he’s healthy and they’re simply giving the 22-year-old some rest to limit his workload.

  17. Cardinals nix response to the Brewers’ humorous political attack ad against Yadier Molina
