Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig drove a 2-1 pitch out to the Western Metal Supply Co. building at Petco Park for his first home run of the season Tuesday against Padres starter Ian Kennedy. You can watch a replay of the two-run blast here, with legendary Dodgers broadcaster Vin Scully on the call. If Puig was a better teammate, he would have made it a three-run shot. Or something like that.

The Dodgers went on to win the game by a score of 3-2 and are now 3-1 on the young season. Puig is batting .294/.368/.529 with four RBI in four games.

“This video is currently unavailable for sharing at this time.”

Also, if you want a reason besides race that people might find Puig irritating , this post is a good example of why. Buster Posey homered in his first game of the season, which turned out to be the winning run in a game the Giants were losing 2-7 at one point. But the guy who actually won the Rookie of the Year and MVP–instead of having everyone clamoring to have him enshrined in the HOF after six weeks in the bigs–isn’t as interesting as All Puig, All The Time.

You should go to another website then. This is SYT –

Now go away, and let us adults discuss the fact that NO ONE has ever hit a shot over the 357 foot sign at Petco Park before. (Well, except Barry Bonds about 500 times). The living legend of Sweet Yasiel grows by the minute – step aside or get run over by the train.

Are you Posey-baiting? That is low. Posey-baiting is ruining this country

Alternative theory- if the likes of Plaschke and Miller didn’t write biased, bush league columns about Puig and their sycophant followers didn’t echo them then there would be no need for others to try to balance the rhetoric.

Or it could be an anti-Posey bias. its hard to tell

      Reason BESIDES race?

That was some awkward wording right there.

Somewhat of an early prediction isn’t it? Still 1 inning to go.. Never know.

Did everyone miss the fact that the game is still being played?

  10. jm91rs - Apr 1, 2014 at 10:32 PM

First of all, terrible reporting saying the dodgers won 3-2 when they were actually still playing. Secondly, I’m wondering who Kennedy threw the ball at after that, this is the dude that hit puig and greinke last year, right?
